Python Modul fehlt, obwohl es installiert ist?

Ich hab hab ein Python-Script:
import libxslt (oder libxmlt2)
Leider klappt das nicht (ImportError: No module named libxslt) Doch es ist installiert (Suse 10) und ich sehe es in der Library (/usr/lib/), es ist auch noch verlinkt mit simbolischen Links (zB libxslt.so > libxslt.so.1.12) . Hat jemand eine Ahnung, woran das liegen könnte? Pythonversion muss zwingend 2.3 sein.
