Switch-Module in Cisco Catalyst 6500 funktionieren nicht bzw. unzuverlässig
Hallo!
Bei einem Cisco Catalyst 6506 funktionieren die Switch-Module beim Starten des Switches nicht zuverlässig (Fehlermeldung: 00:08:32: %C6KPWR-SP-4-DISABLED: power to module in slot 1 set off (Fabric channel errors)).
Was mich wundert, ist daß bis gestern das Switch-Modul in Slot 2 anstandslos läuft und heute gestern dann plötzlich dieses Switch-Modul nicht mehr bootbar war, dafür aber das Switch-Modul in Slot 1 problemfrei lief. Also habe ich alle Kabel in das erste Switch-Modul gesteckt und heute Morgen lief es auch.
Was kann ich ausprobieren / checken. Bei einem solchen Verhalten glaube ich nicht wirklich an ein Hardware-Problem.

Manchmal können das Probleme mit der Backplane Connection sein. Gerade wenn das System älter ist. Hier hilft es mal den Switch stromlos zu machen und die Module mal mehrfach aus und wieder einzustecken oder mal in anderen Slots zu testen.
Auch schrittweise vorzugehen hilft. Alle Module ziehen und nur Supervisor drinlassen und booten. Checken obs geht, stromlos machen, nächstes Modul und hochfahren.
So sukzessive alle Module einzeln zustecken und checken.
Die Fehlermeldung verheisst aber nix Gutes... Fabric Channel Error kann ein HW Defect der Fabric Module sein. Das muss nichtmal die Linecards selber sein.

Als Version läuft Version 12.2(18)SXE6a, ist das die Aktuelle?

hab grad mal geschaut, du hast zwischen 850 und 1060W Leistung nötig, sollte also entweder im combined oder redundant mode problemlos laufen. Hast du PoE-Geräte dran? Wenn ja, was und wie viele? Mach mal ein "show power" und poste es hier mal.

Die Switche sind per se für den Dauerbetrieb ausgelegt. Dementsprechend ist auch die Elektrik darauf ausgelegt.
Nach dem Einschalten werden die Bauteile warm, abschalten führt zur Abkühlung....
Es Bauteile, insbesondere Elko's die das auf Dauer nicht wirklich mögen....
Insofern kann es sein dass das Fabric Modul nicht oder noch nicht korrekt versorgt wird und daher die Switch-Module nicht initialisiert werden.

genau das ist das 
Irgendwie muckt die eine Karte ja doch gewaltig rum. Passiert das auch, wenn die in Slot 3 steckt? Hoffe, es ist kein Riesenaufwand, die mal eben umzustecken...
Das Problem ist, daß die Karten eher abwechselnd rummucken, heute Morgen lief die im Slot 2 :/

Fabric Channel errors hören sich NICHT gut an. Das deutet auf einen defect der Fabric Backplane hin. Da wird dann auch Tauschen der Linecards etc. nichts nützen.
Du solltest die Fabric Channel Fehler ans TAC melden und auch mal einen Crashdump an die schicken. Da ist vermutlich irgendwas mit der Backplane im Argen.
Auch solltest du mal genau klären WARUM die obigen Ports in den Error Disable Mode gehen. Das wird ja immer von externen Events verursacht !

Liegt der Fehler dann eher im Supervisor oder ist es das Gehäuse an sich (also der Catalyst Kasten)?
Supervisor hat damit nix zu tun es sei denn du hast noch einen alten Supervisor der die Fabric mit drauf hat. Gehäuse oder Switch Fabric Module.
Ich habe einen Supervisor 720 3B (also mit Fabbric?). Mittlerweile habe ich übrigens den SP-DRAM und RP-DRAM auf jeweils 1GB erweitert, danach liefen die Switch-Module erstmal problemfrei, im Anschluss habe ich die Firmware auf s72033_rp-ADVIPSERVICESK9-M), Version 15.1(2)SY7 geupdated. Heute (nach 2 Tage) sind die Switch-Module leider wieder im laufenden Betrieb ausgefallen:

Die Port ASIC Fehler verheissen nix Gutes ! Das sieht nach einem Hardware Defekt aus.
Du solltest einen TAC Case eröffnen um erstmal sicher zu klären was da kaputt ist bzw. was die Error Meldungen genau bedeuten.

Die Hardware ist schon lange End of Life, den Supervisor hab ich gebraucht gekauft, aber noch fast 1 Jahr Garantie.... Würde nächste Woche mal den alten Sup32 rauskramen, gegentesten und dann weiterschauen.
Wenn du Garantie hast dann nutze sie !
