Wireless network system for building automation with IoT-Devices
Hi everybody,
i need to construct a solution to connect IoT devices like heating systems etc. in big building complexes.
Do you have some idear for an wireless network (mixed) system to cennect the devices with a central gateway?
The transmitters must send in short ranges as well as in ranges up to 200 meters.
I need this system to send all collected data bundled up to an cloud-server.
Can sombody give me some advice?

If your WiFi coverage ist not good enough try and evaluate the LoRaWAN Technology, this would be a good start.
Affordable gateway equipment for LoRa sensors is also available from Mikrotik.

As an alternative you could consider the new 5G campus network technology, which uses your own 5G network and 5g enabled sensor devices if you have applications which need near realtime status requirements or large data transfers. But normaly devices such as heating, ventilation & co. don't have to transmit large amounts of data. If you have cameras which need realtime analysis for example 5G would be better, of course. So it always depends on what kind of devices, reliability and security requirements you have at the end of the day ...

a bit more information is needed to decide what solution is suitable.
First of all a more or less complete list of what you need to control would help much to find a solution, e.g. there is a huge difference between controlling just lighting, a heating system or also alarm systems (especially fire alarm/smoke detection) just to mention a few examples.
What does "I need to construct ..." mean in detail, are you building that up from scratch or are you the person to find a solution to collect the data from different manufacturer sensors/devices?
From my experience with large scale building automation systems most of the sensors/devices are connected wired to avoid delays or other connectivity issues (wireless inteference etc.).
You just can't compare such installtion with home automation systems. That might look costly at first, but long-term maintenance costs should be considered, too. Of course there is no help if the fire alarm sends no alarm because wireless connection is not working properly.

That would require lot's of interface conversion/types of interfaces for a device which should translate and interpret the data it acquires from the foreign sensor. Don't think you will find a system that will satisfy all of the existing manufacturers, i think that's nearly impossible, and certainly not with a small budget. Normaly when you plan and equip a building, you try to choose homogeneous types of equipment possible to avoid interference/problems in advance.Regards

Wired stuff like KNX/EIB, Loxone and some proprietary stuff (mostly closed source) just to mention a few.
Wireless stuff like ZigBee, Z-Wave, EnOcean, DECT, Bluetooth and WiFi and also proprietary stuff from different manufacturers.
And most of the manufacturers can just control a few things like for example lighting and heating or lighting and security. There is no system which controls everything using any protocol.
There are also physical problems like for example the (central) heating system is located on the basemnt mostly with massive walls around them, its close to impossible to get a stable wireless signal to the data collector.
Also system security is a thing to cosider, there is a certain chance that (accidetally) user 1 controls user 2.
But the main question was: are you starting from scratch or what of the things mentioned are already there?
And you probably misunderstood me regarding maintenance costs, wireless systems in the long run have more maintenance costs because you have to deal with connectivity issues.
